Be
I wake
I rise
I run
I start the day with strength of will
Or so it seems, until I hear the gentle words "Be still".
I work
I eat
I walk
I make a purpose for my being
Till sternly comes "Be still", and changes everything I'm seeing.
I hope
I long
I try
I fight for justice, love, and truth
Before "Be still" commands of me, to ask for grace, not proof.
I hurt
I fix
I ache
I weep, sometimes not knowing why
It's then "Be still" which rescues me, a peace I can't deny.
I wait
I rest
I trust
I hear the sweet surrendering will
My messy being, so lovely when You say, "My child, be still."
