Just To Live

"To live will be an awfully big adventure."
 - Peter Pan

Beings of sinew, blood, and cells
Hope held in ribs, these fragile shells
Joy and grief contained in skin
Redemption bound up next to sin

They say the eyes are windows, so;
Do we see the truth or just what we know?
Bundles of breaths and laughs and tears
Lines, like tree trunks, show the years

Drawn to scars and marks of grief
For every heart there is a thief
Because of pain there's sympathy
Connecting all with empathy

Symphonic thoughts, we do compose
Amidst the thorns, there is a rose
We pass through sorrow just for this:
Those sweet and lingering hints of bliss.
