About Me

I'm a native Texan who has taken up the opportunity to travel to some wonderful places, learn a lot of good and hard life lessons and experience amazing grace. It's important to me to stop and take in the wonder of everyday life and look for beauty, truth, and meaning. I try to capture these moments in writing, whether it is essay-type observations, stories, or poetry. This blog is simply thoughts about all parts of life, written from various parts of the world and from attempted different perspectives.

Currently I am living in Ecuador, working with at-risk youth for at least five years. I am working with Youth World: an outreach to youth in Quito, Ecuador. A ministry of International Teams US.

"Now faith, hope, and love, these three. But the greatest of these is love."
 - 1st Corinthians 13:13

What Is International Teams?

ITeams is a missions organization that brings people together to help the oppressed. They have outreaches all across the globe which are passionate about delivering an authentic Gospel that fully integrates mission and compassion. They seek to work alongside the oppressed, and not over them through offering food, freedom, and forgiveness. I was led to ITeams through friends who served with the organization in Spain for a number of years. I quickly became drawn to the heart of their ministry: a balance of meeting people’s physical and spiritual needs as they share God’s love and truth.

What Is Youth World?

Youth World is an ITeams ministry in Quito, Ecuador, which reaches out to at-risk youth and street kids. They have been in Quito for over a decade. They exist to identify, teach and equip leaders to impact young people and families to be disciples of Jesus Christ. Youth World has a number of outreaches to youth on the streets. These include Casa Gabriel, a house for raising up boys who have been living on the streets due to poverty, abuse, and neglect, to be Christian leaders in their community. It also includes Casa Adalia, a home which offers healing for girls rescued from or at risk of human trafficking.
What Is My Role?

I am the Admin Assistant for the boys home, Casa Gabriel. I help run things behind the scenes, such as handling finances and planning events, as well as cooking family meals for the boys, teaching English classes, and being a sister in Christ to them. I also help with the girls home, Casa Adalia, and am part of an outreach to women in prostitution in downtown Quito. Helping people in all walks of life to know that they are valuable creations of a loving God is vitally important. I am so thankful to be a part of an organization with so many branches of ministry for helping people know the freedom of forgiveness through God’s mercy, and the truth of His radical love.
